Two African penguins have a quick scuffle for dominance as they come ashore at dusk on Bird Island in Algoa Bay, South Africa. The islands in Algoa Bay are amongst the last breeding strongholds for this endangered species and it is hoped that a marine protected area that has been proposed will soon be proclaimed by the South African government. Not only will this support biodiversity conservation but it will also aid long term fisheries sustainability.
