What does it take to be a ranger? Being a ranger is not only about chasing poachers! A ranger is the important eyes and ears on the ground in a protected area.
They keep a watch over the wildlife that they protect, monitoring and reporting on the births, deaths and injuries and where the concentrations of wildlife currently are. Where necessary, they will help with the interventions of game capture, aiding a sick or injured animal or as in this case, help with a rhino dehorning operation in the Phinda Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
